Libido
Libido is your desire for sexual activity. It's not just about desiring sex, though. It also includes how interested you are in intimacy, arousal, and whether you have sexual thoughts. Libido varies widely from person to person. It can also shift throughout your life based on your health, relationships, stress, and hormones.
During perimenopause and menopause, many women notice their libido has dropped significantly. Estrogen and testosterone both play a large role in sexual desire, and when those hormones decline, low libido often follows. This is not a personal failing or a sign that something is wrong with you. It is a proven, physiological change, and there are excellent treatments available.
